David G. Masser

David Masser LogoMasser is an 8th generation potato grower in Central Pennsylvania. David has been part of the produce business his entire life. He started his career as a teenager on the family farm, learning every aspect of the business, including planting, harvesting, packaging, and delivering finished product to customers. After receiving his BS in Agricultural Systems Management from Penn State University, he worked as a test engineer for New Holland North America. David returned to the family business in 1999, when an expansion of the business provided the opportunity. First as a Plant Manager, then Director of Sales, and now as President David has led continued growth by remaining grounded in the vision and values of the seven generations that preceded him and by focusing on variety, packaging, sustainability, convenience, and taste innovations that improve his customers’ category performance. He has been happily married to his wife, Jamie, for over 14 years and is the father of two children, Samantha and Maxwell. The underlying current to all of his hard work and passion is to sustain the business for this 9th generation of potato growers in his family. He credits his father, Keith, “the smartest, hardest working person I know,” as his mentor.  Keith was instrumental in teaching him the company’s core values, how to run a successful business, and how to maintain and develop key employees.   Another mentor is his mother, Helen, who was the first female to chair the United States Potato Board and is Sterman Masser Inc.’s corporate dietician.  He also credits his employees, who Keystone Logomotivate and inspire him with their drive and willingness to take on more responsibility to facilitate the rapid growth of the company. Other mentors include the members of the Fresh Solutions Network, and Fresh Solution Farms, specifically the Connor’s Family, Jason Walther and Todd Michael, who have taught him partnership values, strategic planning, and critical thinking.
